Old Barn Gutter Case Study in Godeau, LA

The Problem

An old cotton gin in Godeau, LA had been repurposed into a saw mill. The building was in need of gutters, but the roof’s edges were damaged and weakened. This left the property exposed to further damages along with less curb appeal.

The building’s roof was still intact and sturdy, however the edges were weakened and rusted, making the attachment of gutters difficult. Left alone, the roof is put at risk of further harm from water damage, which could lead to severe costs later on.

The Solution

To stop this issue, our team first had to cut back the roof’s edges in order to allow access to the sturdier interior of the roof.

Next, we added a wooden wedge to the underside of the roof and rescrewed the roof into the wedge—giving something for the gutters to latch onto.

We then added the new gutters to the roof, boosting its strength and protecting it from water damage.

These additions to the building protect it from damages in the future, along with giving a cleaner, more appealing look to the property.

The Result

Cutting back the roof’s weaker edges and the addition of the wooden wedge to its underside boosted its strength. The installation of gutters ensures it maintains that strength and prevents further damages. Overall, the building is left with a roof that is now protected from water damage, along with an improved overall look to the property.
